a. Who is referred to as “she” on this
line?
Answer: Here “she” is referred
to Nightingale.
b. How did the king come to know about
her?
Answer: According to the story visitors from the different places in the Emperor palace had told about the nightingale to the emperor.
c. Where was she found? Who had
helped in locating her?
Answer: She was found in the greenwood.
A little girl who was working in king’s palace kitchen helped in locating her.
2. ‘My song sounds best in greenwood,’ Said the bird,’ but still she came willingly when she heard the emperor wished to hear her song.’
a. Why do you think the nightingale’s song sounds best in
the greenwood?
Answer: According to me the nightingale’s song sounds best in the greenwood because She might have a habit of singing in the open and natural places with nature.
b. What arrangement had been made for the special performance?
Answer: The king ordered to decorate the palace with attractive and beautiful design. Whole court was present and in the center of the hall, a golden perch had been fixed for the nightingale to sit on.
c. What reward was offered to the bird? What did she say in reply?
Answer: King offered gold slipper to wear. She replied I have seen tears in an emperor eyes and that is my richest reward.
